All About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Cynthia Vautrot (pronounced Vo-tro with long o sounds).  I live in the same little North Georgia town where I was born and raised - Ellijay (pronounced L-ah-jay).  I won't tell you my age, but I've lived here almost a half-century!!  hahaha

I am starting my 24th year of teaching.  My heart gladdens at times thinking how close I'm getting to retirement so I can pursue my dream of traveling the US in our camper, but other times I am sad to be getting close to the end of this journey.  Teaching is in my blood.  It's the very first thing I can remember wanting to be.  I would play school daily with all my dolls and stuff animals and if you were lucky ;-) enough to come home with me as a child, you got to spend your afternoon playing school again!  hahaha

I have been married to Ronnie for 26 years and we have 2 beautiful daughters.  Megan, our oldest, has always wanted to be a teacher also and she pushed through college in 3 years.  Alas, with the economy we worried about her getting a job since they are so scarce, but God has blessed her by allowing her to teach 4th grade (her favorite) in the local Christian school. She is married to a wonderful young man, BJ.  Our youngest daughter, Camille, is currently in college and engaged to be married to Chad in January.  We are so lucky that we love both of our daughter's choices in men.  We couldn't be more blessed with such fine Christian fellows for our daughters!

Some of my favorite things to do is read, create items for my classroom, travel/camp, and just spend time at home.

I am new to the world of blogging.  I am constantly amazed at the technological era we live in.  What a world of difference my earlier teaching career would have been with blogging, TPT, Pinterest, etc.  Well, I'm jumping on for the ride.  I know I'm learning a LOT from others, but I hope I have a little to contribute and share to make your stop by here worth while!

  1. I am a new follower. Heard about your Facebook and blog on Facebook. Excited.

  2. Hi! Just found your site and am so excited to learn from you. I'm moving from K to 2nd at a small school where I'll be the only 2nd grade teacher, so I need to learn a ton! Can't wait to read everything:)

  4. I just found your blog today and thank goodness I did. I am new to looking at blogs and I am not ready to begin my own blog just yet, but I was wondering if you could help me with the process of setting up my own blog for my classroom to communicate with parents. I will be teaching 2nd grade this year for the first time just got moved from kinder (my heart and passion) and I have crazy anxiety over this move... but I can't wait to get ideas from your blog :)

  5. Hi Cynthia,
I just found your blog and like you I am new to the blogging world. I have learned so much from other bloggers, Pinterest and the internet. I have been teaching for 20 years and I agree with you when you say how different your earlier teaching would have been with so much on offer on the internet. I have gained so much from other bloggers and I am forever grateful for their generosity. I love your blog and I am your newest follower.

  6. Hi Cynthia
Could you please contact me via my email:

  7. I just purchased the unit to support Teresa and by mistake I deleted the receipt as it was in my SPAM box. I thought I would be able to access it in my TpT downloads but it doesn't seem to be there and you did say it would come by email. I hope this will not prevent my receiving the materials as I was really looking forward to them! Blessings on you, your family, and for Teresa's healing! Sincerely, Sharon Allen, Los Alamos, New Mexico. Thank you!

  8. Hi Cynthia,

I have challenged myself to find 365 great blogs this year. I am hopping around the internet all the time and finding cool blogs and so I thought it was time to start remembering them!

  9. Hey Cynthia! I wanted to give you a heads up that I am currently celebrating my 1 Year Blogiversary! 12. I am a third grade teacher, but I am able to get so many new ideas from you! I recently read a guest blog you wrote regarding 3 week lesson planning. I would greatly appreciate more information and would also be interested in purchasing templates you use for this lesson planning.
Any further information you can provide would be helpful!

  13. Hi Cynthia! This is such a cute blog- I searched for your contact info and couldn't find it. So excuse me for not emailing you directly. I wanted to talk to you about being part of the blogger program- I think you would make a great fit to do reviews and giveways. Email me if you are interested.

  14. I really like your blog and make animated math videos I would like to give permanent access to your school. I do not want anything in return and right now I just have 2nd grade up and you moved to 4th but I am sure your school will still enjoy them. Contact me if you are interested. Thanks

  15. Just found your blog through a blog-hop, & "North Ga." caught my eye! I used to live in Dalton, and worked with a PE Teacher who is now working in Elijay...or maybe it's Jasper! :)
